I don't want to be late. . .

"How long does a girl have to wait for a pumpkin to turn into a beautiful horse drawn carriage?"

I wonder if I should tell my little witch that she needs the magic of a Fairy Godmother? Naaaa, I think I'll let her stew a little longer before I get my magic wand out and grant her, her wish.

Besides, I'm a little busy at the moment with course work and I'm being as quiet as a mouse. I have a sick man in the house. We all know how that story goes... :(
I'm popping over to see my friends at Sunday Sketches

If you would like to catch up with some of my daily Fun and Nonsense , you can find me here
If you like what you see, please LIKE me.  Love Catherine xx

New friends and old . . .

It's Monday evening and I thought I'd share some of the goings on in my journal.

Poppy is trying to convince Pooch that a new kitten is going to be a GOOOOOOD thing.  Her first words had me worried  "Don't freak out". You just know when someone tells you not to freak out...it's going to be bad and your going to freak out. And her last words "YOU ARE going to LOVE HIM."

Well that just says it all...when someone tells me that, I know I might take some convincing.  I hope Pooch is ready for lots of patience and LUV.

I'll pop in on them tomorrow morning and see how they've spent their first night together.

Just a little Fun and Nonsense on this cold wet October Monday....Catherine xx

Sweetdreams. . .

It's been a very hectic three weeks.  My sister arrived from Australia, we celebrated our Mum and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary and then last week my Gran who was nearly 99years old died.  I wrote back in April that she was slipping away very slowly. She's finally at peace and we are learning to live without her.  All the coming and goings of the last three weeks has finally come to end. My Mum and Dad for the first time in 9years can put their feet up and enjoy their retirement.  I'm going to get my head into some serious creating.  The end of one era and beginning of a new one.
Unfortunately Sunday Sketches... has been postponed for this week...see you all there next weekend.
Lets hope there's lots of Fun and Nonsense in the weeks to come...Catherine x

Hello. . .

"Hello, my name is Patience. What's yours?" said Patience to the bird.
"My name is Owl." said the bird very grandly.
"Oh, that's a strange name to have and if you don't mind me saying, you don't look like an owl."
"Well you don't look like a Patience..." said Owl matter of factly.

That's my fun and nonsense for this Tuesday...xxx

It's Sunday. . .

I seem to have a thing for Little Beanie Red at the moment. I just keep sketching her and Mr Wolf, who doesn't look all that scary. I might have a go at changing the storyline...what do you think?

That's my "Fun and Nonsense" ....Catherine x

Little Beanie Red. . .

It's Monday evening and I'm dog tired, it feels like Friday...nine 5year olds will do that to you. Suck the energy right out before your very eyes. Little darlings (I say through gritted teeth).
Tomorrow is another battle field...yay!

Just a little something I sketched last week, whilst on my dinner break. Little Beanie Red isn't taking any of Little Bear Blue's nonsense...

Hope there's some Fun and Nonsense in you neck of the woods... Catherine x

Keeping it loose. . .

Hello everyone. Here are a couple of sketches I did last night while the football was on.  Mr Hollywood has been complaining that I spend too much time in my art bunker.  So now in the evening while we watch tv, I lay my art supplies on the coffee table and doodle. Last night I kept my lines very loose, just doodled some forms and am very happy with the results.

I love to doodle, it's just "Fun and Nonsense"...Catherine xx

Summer is over. . .

A page from my holiday journal - We drank a little, giggled a lot and talked non-stop!

Good Morning everyone, I'm back!  Summer is over, my morning starts at 6am again. Gone are my lazy lie ins till 8am, lunch with Gino and Mel (UK cooking show) and late nights.
I started back at school on Monday helping the two teachers to prepare the classrooms etc for the return of all the children yesterday.  I have 9 fresh new 5year old minds to mold and play with....and wip into shape.  Oh yes "work in progress"... One or two haven't quite understood that the adults are in charge at our school...oh well, they'll learn  :D fun fun fun....
We are a teeny tiny primary school of 45 students this year and four adults (two teachers, the dinner lady and me, the classroom assistant).  All our children were happy to be back and there was lots of kissing and hugging (it's France, we do that - well at our school anyway). It's one big happy family. Two of our four children that started at senior school yesterday popped by at the end of the day to tell us how they like their new school... as I said, one big happy family!

Hope there's some "Fun and Nonsense" where ever you are...Catherine xx

Toodle pip . . .

I'm off for a few days to catch up with two old friends...I've packed my little bag...(these days your only allowed to fly with one pair of knickers and a toothbrush. And God forbid you should be caught with a bottle of water!)... So I'm travelling light...got a few art supply's and it's summer, who needs knickers anyway...:P

I used to love travelling by air, now I hate it...your herded like cattle and then you have to nearly strip down to the buff to go through passport control...second thoughts...big granny knickers to travel in I think...then it's a rugby scrum to see who can get on the plane first....grrrrr.  Wish I could just wriggle my nose and ploufff...snap my  fingers and I'm there...where I want to be...wouldn't that be magic!

No I'm flying budget airline....so I've sharpened my elbows, been practising my glare (no-one will be pushing past me)...I could win a gold medal with my glare...and I've been on a diet so I can squeeze my little self into a small budget sized seat... der...I'm travelling alone so I think I will just wait till the last minute and wander gracefully onto the plane looking elegant and refreshed...only then I'll be sitting next to red sweaty person that barged their way on first....um...what to do...? and I used to worry about how many bikini's to pack...

so dear bloggy friends, wish me Bon Voyage and I'll tell you all about my Fun and Nonsense when I get back...xxx

Bats. . .

Good morning Sunday Sketchers... I hope you have all had a brilliant week and weekend.
This little girl popped onto my page this week
and then her little bat friend (whom I've drawn before) decided to fly in via the chimney...
Tut tut he's leaving sooty footprints behind him...oh dear more cleaning. He says he's very sorry but whooshing down the chimney is so much more fun than knocking on the front door...

I personally can't think of anything worse but then I'm not a chimney whooshing soot seeking furry bat creature... I must get the chimney sweeped or I'll be spending the rest of the summer cleaning soot.

I used Micron pens and watercolours.  I hated watercolours at school, just couldn't make them work, they were always wishy washy or too bright ...(bad workman always blames his tools).   Well now I'm getting the hang of blending and wet on wet or wet on dry etc...especially love it when I get to splatter.

That's my "Fun and Nonsense" for now...Catherine xxx
