Happy Birthday Mum...

It's my mum's 70th Birthday today... can't believe the number.. she looks really great for her age. I bought her a beautiful bracelet and the gift wrapping was pathetic... so I made my own heart box, thanks to  and a little mouse card. The mouse is made from http://www.homemade-gifts-made-easy.com/free-gift-box-templates.html a page from the telephone directory. (Mouse instructions from www.origami-club.com/en). The mouse sheet is 150mm x 150mm sorry don't have the inches. A little bit of ribbon and heypresto he's ready for a dinner party. The box that Mr Mouse is sitting on is made from the top of a Lipton's tea box that I recovered with paper.

It was all easy peasy cheap and cheesy and made with lots and lots of Love... Hope she doesn't look at my blog, coz she ain't getting her pressy and card till tomorrow night....

Last Day.....AEDM... Advent Calendar

My daughter made this for me and sent it in the post. It's an advent calendar. She's at Uni in England and I hate not being in contact with her on a daily basis. When I haven't heard from her in a few days I start to imagine allsorts.... her response is always.. Mother Goose don't fret the Aliens came and took me off in their spaceship.. and everyone knows that Aliens don't have mobile phones or internet....derrrr...

I have really enjoyed AEDM, seeing what all you talented people are upto and receiving some lovely comments on my blog and making new friends.... can't wait for the next one and hope I catch up with all of you again soon.... May all your wishes come true...Catherine x

Windmills

Windmills, there are lots of beautiful windmills where I live in the Charente-Maritime (France), unfortunately most of them are in ruin. Thankfully there are one or two in full working order. The fascinating facts about our mills: the roofs are made of wood and turn with the help of a long poll and once a upon time a donkey, so that the sails can be turned to the prevailing winds. There are two doors into the mills, so if one door is blocked by the sails, the miller can go in through the other door. I pass several on my way to work every day...they remind me of fairy tales and the other day I thought of Rapunzel : then I had a horrible thought... what would happen if Rapunzel got nits...

Autumn Leaves

I loved the colours and shapes of these leaves, especially the second one in, a red leaf with yellow splotches which are much brighter in real life. The kids at school brought them in for our leaf project, so I have no idea from which tree it comes. I had found these little rhymns plus the leaves and "Hey Presto" leaves that became trees...

Where has everyone gone...!

I finally finished it late last night...99 100.  I had things stuck on the other side of the pages, so when I started shading in the trees, I got a bumpy effect like tree bark. For once a happy surprise.
I started this a couple of days ago and still haven't finished it... Will post it again when finished... There really isn't enough time in a day...   Have a good weekend everyone....

A Wise Woman once said nothing!.... A happy thought for many a man...

Not a great drawing... I sketched this whilst waiting in the car for my daughter to get out of school. I could have also  put  "A wise woman once said "Nothing at All!"... A happy thought for many a teenager!"
